Visiting Daytona Beach during Bike Week is something that has been on my travel “bucket list” for a long time, so when I found out that I would finally have the chance, I immediately began prowling the web in search of the perfect place to stay. That particular place having a safe place to store our motorcycling gear was essential in my search, and that’s what immediately attracted my husband and I to The Aku Tiki.
With its extremely high TripAdvisor ratings and the fact that it has a free, gated underground parking area, we know this hotel will be just what we’re looking for in our Bike Week experience. Having somewhere safe and secure to store our bikes, helmets, and other gear is extremely important to us, so this was an amenity we just can’t pass up! Having stayed at The Aku Tiki before, we are so excited to return and enjoy their daily freshly baked cookies, continental breakfast, and open bar. In addition, The Aku Tiki is located only a short five minutes away from Main Street, where we’ve heard all of the Bike Week action can be found. We are so excited to have all of the amenities of staying at The Aku Tiki, with its large, beachfront rooms and free bike wash area, while also being less only two miles away from the center of the Bike Week action!
When speaking on the phone with Jane at the front desk at The Aku Tiki, we were excited to learn that this year, 2015, is the 74th anniversary of BikeWeek in Daytona!
On the first night of our trip to Daytona, we plan to enjoy happy hour at the hotel before heading over to Main Street for drinks and dinner. We’re hoping to meet up with other people in town for Bike Week, as we’ve heard it’s always more fun to make new friends staying at The Aku Tiki. Although we’ve been told that it can get pretty wild, everyone we’ve asked has informed us that Main Street during Bike Week is for sure the place to go, so that will be our first stop. Seeing and experiencing the historic BootHill Saloon and getting the chance to buy BikeWeek 2015 souvenirs from vendors in town from across the country are experiences we certainly don’t want to miss.
While planning our trip, we decided that it would be a lot to spend our entire trip on Main Street, so on Saturday, we’ve decided that we’re going to head over to the Zoom Air Adventure Park for some zip-lining and obstacle course action in Tuscawilla Park, located just about fifteen minutes away from The Aku Tiki. The obstacle course itself is supposed to be AWESOME and includes ziplining, treetop games, and multiple “tarzan” ropes portions. From what we’ve been told, if you’re into breathtaking treetop views and unusual and adventurous activities, Zoom Air is the place for you. We will surely love competing for time and speed and literally zooming through the park. However, after 3 hours of working through the course, we’re sure to be both exhilarated AND starving, which is why we plan to head over to the local favorite restaurant Bay Street Fish Market (on Bay Street, off of Beach Street) for a fantastic dinner of fresh fried shrimp and delicious homemade onion rings, both of which come highly recommended.
Our trip to Daytona Beach for Bike Week 2015 is sure to be a great one since we’ll be staying at the perfect place – The Aku Tiki! Having a beautiful, clean room to return to after long days of motorcycle riding and adventuring will be crucial to the success of our trip, and we know that’s what we’ll get at The Aku Tiki. The complimentary continental breakfast, freshly baked cookies daily, and happy hour (with snacks) make this hotel choice an easy one.
